History
Wake Robin, formed in 1984 as a not-for-profit (501-C-3) corporation, operates a Life Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located on a 137 acre site overlooking Lake Champlain in Shelburne, Vermont. Wake Robin consists of 212 independent living units, a community center, and a health center with 35 units for Residential Care and 48 units for Skilled Nursing.

Wake Robin is regulated by the Vermont Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care Administration. The Commissioner of Banking, Insurance and Securities issued a Certificate of Authority to Wake Robin on April 15, 1993, based on an independent financial and actuarial evaluation.

Residents began living at Wake Robin in May of 1993. There are 254 people living independently in cottages and apartments and an additional 68 residents living in the Linden Health Care Center. The average age of all residents in Independent Living is 83. The average age at move-in is 76; however, the range has been 64 to 96. Seventy percent of current residents are female, 30% male. Thirty-two percent of residents are couples. Fifty-two percent of people relocating to Wake Robin came from homes in Vermont. |
