It took 3 weeks, long hours, and some serious muscle to pull off but we did it; our summer project is complete, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief! Yes, we have a new kitchen floor! We also have new windows in the kitchen, fresh paint, and touch ups in all 3 of our walk-in coolers.
For those of you who are not at Wake Robin, we closed our main kitchen this summer for 3 weeks. I can tell you, there is never a great time to do this. In an effort to keep life at Wake Robin as normal as possible, we had a temporary kitchen “installed” outside our garden café – under a tent—giving new meaning to the old term, “summer kitchen.” It was an adventurous 3 weeks. I am grateful to all the residents for their support and good humor, and so proud of my entire staff who endured the hot summer weather, the brief but very wet downpours and the relocation of our kitchen to outside. We are all happy it is finally over! |
