Eligibility Requirements
A person applying for residency at Wake Robin is applying for a Life Care Contract. Each applicant is considered on an individual basis and is evaluated based on industry standards in determining financial and health eligibility. These findings are incorporated into a review and approval process by the Wake Robin Admissions Committee.
A confidential financial statement is submitted by the applicant for financial review. A resident should have a gross monthly income equal to two times the monthly fee levied on the apartment or cottage. There is flexibility with the formula depending on the applicant's age, total assets, and income profile.
The Admissions Committee also incorporates the findings of a physical evaluation performed at Wake Robin by the Medical Director. This evaluation is performed on an individual basis and is done following a review of current medical records received from the candidate's primary care physician. To receive a Life Care Contract and become a resident of Wake Robin, an applicant must be able to live independently, with reasonable accommodation.
Age guidelines established by the Town of Shelburne require that one person living in an apartment or cottage be at least age 60. The customary starting age for admission is 65. There is an Entrance Fee surcharge for applicants under age 65 to cover expanded risk.
Life Care Contract
A Life Care contract is offered to an individual or couple when a home is available at Wake Robin, and eligibility has been established by the Admissions Committee. This contract guarantees lifetime occupancy and long term care at Wake Robin. Eligible applicants pay a one-time entrance fee, 25% when the contract is offered and the balance at the time of occupancy. Occupancy generally occurs within several weeks of receiving the Life Care Contract. |
